Talk about the show!

The people who work at Rachael Ray are all too familiar with the "freshman 15" -- the first season of the show saw staffers gaining anywhere from 5 to 15 pounds due to the continuous stream of goodies coming from Rach's kitchen! (Watch the video above to see how the staff deals with the ever-present smörgåsbord). Oprah's fitness guru Bob Greene has some tips for those constantly tempted by delicious foods, and who are looking to lose that extra belly fat.

"The first thing is get active," Bob says, "or at least define how active you are willing to be and that's going to define how and what you eat. Get moving. It's really important to put activity into your life."

The next area Bob says people should look at is emotional eating. "If you move consistently, and you eliminate the majority of what I call emotional eating, most people are going to adopt a weight they're going to be happy with." In terms of Rachael's staff, Bob says they should anticipate the temptation they face every day. "You're going to probably overeat here to a small degree," he says, "so adjust at dinner time. Have a mini-meal or a meal replacement like a shake."

In order to help people chose the right foods, Bob has a "Best Life" seal on many products found in your average grocery store. "These foods have either whole grains or a set limit of sodium or salt," he explains. "They fit a healthy profile, they don't have excessive sugar and they don't have the wrong fats, they have the right fats."

Bob says that in addition to what people eat, when they eat is also crucial. "It's very important to eat breakfast. You're going to be more prone to picking all day if you miss breakfast. And nighttime eating is the most damaging. When you overdo it in the morning, or even at lunch, you have energy and you will burn it off. But if you overdo it at night there's no place for it to go."

The number one question people ask Bob is, "How do I reduce [fill in the blank body part]?" He says the popular area right now is belly fat. "The truth is that it's genetically controlled. You're genetically determined where you're going to gain -- you have a primary deposit site -- and where you're going to lose. There are three exercises everyone needs to do: the cardio, the strength training, and probably most important, do your push aways -- and that's push away from the table a little sooner than you have been!"
