It was really important to me that my baby have healthy foods and I love to take an active in role in things like this, so I make my own baby food. It's really easy and I absolutely love it! I prefer to steam my fruits and veggies because the research I did said it was nutritionally better than the other methods. I did mine in batches, so for example, would peel and slice a few apples, steam them and then puree them in a blender (I use the Magic Bullet which was the perfect size for making baby food). I found this web-site: www.wholesomebabyfood.com which I thought was a great resource. Since I made batches of different fruits and veggies at one time, I bought these ice cube trays from the store that have a cover on top of the tray that slides on and off or else you have to develop a way to cover the trays while they're freezing. Once the cubes were frozen, I placed each different type in a ziploc labeled with the date and the fruit/veggie. This was nice because once my son had been introduced to the fruits/veggies individually I was able to combine the cubes. For example, I would use one cube of carrots and one cube of peas. I guess my response is a little long, but I am so happy that I chose to make my son's baby food myself and I just wanted to let you know it's not hard or time consuming. I just blocked off some time to do it once he was sleeping and preferred to do about 5-6 fruits and veggies at one time. If you have any questions, feel free to reply back and I'd be more than happy to give you more tips!
